Well, I've been in the shop for a couple months now. Things are finally where I want them. Starting on my to-do list. Also, the guy I'm renting from has given me some work. Just a couple cutting boards, but it's a start. It's nice having my own shop. Before I had to move things around, since I didn't have enough space to keep things set up all the time. I was constantly swapping equipment. Now where ever I leave it, no problem, lots of room. And it's safe, well lit and there are some guys that work in the evening. And we all work Saturday and Sunday. The guys (there's only guys in the adjacent shops), are very nice and quick to give advice. Of course, they were also drooling over the Laguna BS that I have. Unfortunately, I had a little accident with it. I was on the last of 5 plant hangers and didn't have the guard all the way down. You can guess the rest. 6 stiches in one finger, 2 in the next. Didn't cut any tendons, muscle or nerves. I was very lucky. Did it 2 days before I went on vacation, so had a chance to heal for a couple weeks. Believe me, I was nervous when I went back into the shop and had to finish that cut. All is well, now.
Overall, it's been a positive move. I turned the space at home into a finishing room. No dust and no noise. Haven't received any further complaints from the neighbors. I hope to post some of my work over the next month. I think it's pretty straight forward, right?
Well, thanks for the interest. Happy sawdust!

behind you and you are OK. Can be very scarey can't it...to see the possibility of your wood interests dashed before your eyes. But it is a great learning method. I am very glad space is working out.

Lynn- Your new shop sounds like a wonderful place to 'escape' to. Glad it worked out so well, and fosters your learning curve! That accident must have been scary; I bet it makes you super cautious now...glad it wasn't worse. I look forward to upcoming pictures of what you're doing. -Barb S.

Sorry to hear about your injury, at least you had time to recoop before having to hit the shop again. Glad to hear that thing have worked out well for you. I really look forward to seeing some of your work.

The important thing about incidents and accidents is that I try to learn from some one elses mis-fortunes.
