...in following along while I plan and build a piece of furniture.

What I had in mind was letting you in on my thought processes as I make decisions, perhaps writing little tutorials for processes if there is a hew and cry for them.

For example, I have chosen a style of furniture and am in the process of drawing plans. I know some design details I like and I am in the process of taking measurements from photos and drawing the construction plans.

If enough are interested, I am willing to write a journal as I go and share it with you.

Hmmmm........??????????

Carol,

I, for one, would be facinated to "look over your shoulder" as you work out the details.

I have my own processes for design, but am interested in seeing yours.

For me, sometimes I have an idea in mind and work out the details. Other times, a special piece of wood will tell me what it wants to become. And every so often, a little voice (my wife) tells me exactly what to build i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif

I'm looking forward to watching this thread,

I would think that your journal would be a valuable resource. I don't do flatwork anymore but I would like to follow along. The planning and design part of flat projects was almost as much fun as actually doing the project. Of course turning is even more fun. :-)

Carol,
I think it would be a wonderful idea to "look over your shoulder" as Ralph has mentioned, helping us connect the dots. We've had a few discussions here about design. I remember one of the topics of discussion followed along the chicken and egg theory - do you design the project first or select the wood first and then come up with the design. So it will be fascinating and insightful to tag along with you in this process.

Thanks so much for being willing to take time away from your project as you share with us. That's a true teacher i/expressions/present.gif

I'd be delighted if you'd do that! What a great way to learn new things!

Great idea! I would be very interested.
I'm too far away to pop in for a class but this would be a great oppertuinity to watch you work with out getting in your way.
