MN Lumber Drying Workshops

The University of Minnesota Extension Service is putting on a Basic Lumber Drying Workshop in three locations at the end of this month. May 24th in Rochester, May 30th in Cloquet, and May 31st in Park Rapids.

You can learn how to avoid drying problems by learning about how wood dries, how drying stresses develop, how to avoid drying degrade dry kilns and drying procedures.

I would encourage anyone who is really interested in woodworking to attend this workshop if they live within a reasonable driving distance. Over the years I have spent reading posts on many forums and talking with woodworkers I am constantly amazed at how many do not understand or even have a clue about the medium with which they work. So much energy and resources are spent on gaining knowledge about tools, equipment and techniques which would be worth so much more with a basic understanding about wood. Ok, I am finished now. :-)
