View Full Version : Drill Press Table Crank

A couple of months ago I read a comment/complaint regarding drill press table cranks that get in the way of large secondary market drill press tables. Someone suggested that some drill presses were made with the table crank located at the rear of the support column rather than the side.

Never having owned a drill press, the thought sounded logical but after looking at drill presses during the past two months the thought remains just that - a thought.

Question: Which drill presses are made with a rear table crank? Have I been dreaming, looking in all the wrong places or our we all victims of "form over function"?

Fred; The only drill presses that I know of that have the table crank at the back of the column are the extra heavy duty machine shop type. The type of press that can be used as a milling machine if need be. I can't remember any woodworking types that have this feature. I maybe wrong and I'm quite often are.

Fred,
Why don't you extend the crank way out beyond the aftermarket table you have?
