Any Classes in San Francisco?

After reading about the wonders of taking a class with the "Router Lady", I got inspired to attend a class on the subject. Anyone knows of any such classes in San Francisco or Bay Area in general? Does the "Router Lady" offer these classes only in San Diego?

Looking for woodworking classes by or for women in the east this late summer, july or august; anywhere along the east coast or near it. I'll come to the Bay area. Just need a place to hold the classes, a database of possible students (like club memberships, Rockler/Woodcraft store co-operation in the area, etc.) and a little local help with logistics. Went to New York in May and taught 4 days. Will certainly go to the Bay area if you want me.

That sure is a great idea but I can't think of a place to hold the class. My shop barely holds me and my tools and I don't know of any other wood enthusiast in the area. How about your San Diego class? How often do you do that and how much does it cost? I could just take the shuttle for a day and come with my Makita to San Diego!

I would be interested in a San Francisco class. My new router is underused, mostly because I lack confidence. I don't know about getting on an airplane with tools; I got stopped at security when they saw something mysterious in my carry-on. It was a basin wrench.

I am currently setting a schedule for a Woodworking for Women class at WoodCraft in Newington, NH. It will be a three session class, but I'm not yet sure if we are going to set it up for three consectutive days or one class each week for three weeks.

Also, if you are close enough, I offer Router Basics and Advanced Router classes just about every month at the same WoodCraft. These classes are not for women only, but I typically have at least one woman in each class. Everyone is welcome :)

Don't rule out my coming to the Bay area. Get the word out and you never know what might happen. See, already one other person is interested and the word isn't out locally yet.

The place will come as the word gets out.

As for tools on the plane, no problem. I take'em with me all over the country. I once carried on a tool box (locked) with all sorts of stuff that could be misconstrued as deadly weapons. I unlocked it for the inspector. He said 'under the seat and keep it locked'. I said Yessir, Thank you.

I hestitate to quote prices and advertise here on the forum. Most web adminstrators frown deeply over that practice and for the most part, the participants don't like it either. And if we open Pandora's box just a tad.........you understand. Also, as a Advisory Board member, I would not want to see that happen.

So for now, any one in the Bay area that is interested, speak up or privately e-mail me. Of course, if coming to San Diego is your cup of tea, we can talk about that too. I am about an hour northeast of the airport, so ground transportation is also necessary.

This topic was going around a month or so ago and I had received some inquiries from a few of you, latest from Thu. Unfortunately, my computer burped a couple of weeks ago and I lost the information and the list of those of you who were interested in my coming to to Bay area to teach a couple of router classes. Would you all please contact me again?

I have three words for you: Backup, Backup, Backup! LOL

Seriously, for under $200.00 now you can get a CD burner for your computer. You can backup everything you might need to in a matter of a few minutes. I do that now and not only am I protected if things go wrong, but can keep a lot more free space on my hard drive since the backup is on a CD that goes with me.

Got it and did all that, Ralph. We were cleaning up windows registries which had gotten out of hand and seriously hampered the speed of the machine. So we left out the windows directory. Seems all the email stuff was there. :( Live and learn. Having lost my address book and email history is not fun but it is the 'cheapist' I have every gotten off with computer burps.

I'm also looking for classes around the bay area and
found some places that are teaching woodworking classes...
One in Alameda...called "Woodworked Academy" at
www.woodworkeracademy.com (http://www.woodworkeracademy.com) and the other in Dublin at the
WoodCraft (www.woodcraft.com (http://www.woodcraft.com) - select Woodcraft Stores).
I just got the schedule from Woodworker Academy and it looks
like they have a good selection of classes...they are around
1 to 4 days long....
