    RE: Heat in the summer

Just bought the adjustable screens and put them up so we'll see how it does...the temp is 87 degrees in the shop...got to put up some foam board in the attact area gonna try and do that next month...at least I'm not the only one with issues with heat...guess most garages are after thoughts on making them comfortable to work in when there being built gotta leave it to the home owner to finish off the inside.

That's my game plan for this fall or early winter to put up foam board in the attic area also, did you put in the baffels and then the foam board on top of it? That's what I'm gonna do ...it keeps the air flowing so moisture doesn't get stuff messed up in the roof area.

Yep. Forgot to mention I grew up in Richmond, spent a lot of time in Newport News, Norfolk, VA Beach, and Williamsburg visiting relatives and just having fun at the beach. It was prtty toasty.

One of the nicest things about the Austin area is that it cools down at night, 20-25?; and even the heat seems a bit drier than in VA.

    RE: Houston summers

I certainly agree that Houston has the worst summers of any place I ever lived -- and I lived in quite a few places in the southeastern USA.

And the UK is wonderful! I lived in Scotland for four years and enjoyed every minute of it.

But best of all, I love New Mexico -- high, cool, and dry. I grew up here, wanted to return for many years, and finally did make it home again.

Oddly enough Johanna, we are currently experiencing a heatwave here in the UK.

It must be at least 30?C and humid with it too. It's what I'd call TX hot!

Luckily this kind of weather only happens once every ten years or so, and when it does happen it usually only lasts a few days.

I certainly don't miss the Texas climate. That is just too miserable for words. Surely nobody with half a brain would live there if air-conditioning didn't exist, ha, ha. Slainte.

    RE: UK summers

I moved to Scotland in June, 1966. A week or two later Scotland experienced the hottest weather ever recorded -- almost 90. Lots of elderly people died from the heat (probably did not take off their woolen clothes). Of course, having moved there from South Carolina, I thought the weather was idyllic -- even at its hottest!
