    Sears Router Crafter

I found this in a yard sale the other day.Model 72025250.
I checkd the Sears site and there are no parts available, only an operators manual. Has anyone ever used one of these and if so what do you think of them. This one has two broken plastic wheels but I could duplicate them on a wood lathe if the thing is any good. Also if someone knows where i could download a manual would help.
    Thanks in advance.....Jim

    Joe,
This thing is kind of like a lathe with a carridge that holds a router. I will try and post a pic if i can figure out how

    Jim,
That tool was born a Router Lathe by Trend.

    http://www.trendmachinery.co.uk/routerlathe/

Sears bought the US rights to it.

A manual can be viewed here:

    Hope this gets you going.
    All the best,
    Joe

    RE: Sears Router Crafter

    Joe,
Thanks for the good info. I have been to the site and got the operators manual with no problem. They are also showing it as discontinued. I will have to make some little plastic wheels for it so I can see how it works.
    Thanks again.....Jim

    Luther Woody

please excuse the spelling mistakes (old plus dementia)

This is really a very good product (esp. as a duplication machine) after learning to use it properly.
It will make many diferent designs of posts/turnings/legs/bases/ etc. with many varable spirals etc. in each direction (opposing spirals etc. can be made by going in both directions)

Proper router setup (very decent & proper cutters are needed) is a little critical & advancing the router at a nice cutting speed is essential.

If you turn new rollers make all four, as the sizes & depths are critical 3 1/4" od & 1 1/4" od (all 4 depths must be the same)

If you number all 4 R.H. corners you will keep some mistakes from happening in starting some multiple--cuts/recuts

Luther Woody, Glad for the reply and by the way I didn't see anything wrong with your spelling.
The rollers you mention, where do they go? The wheels that I was talking about are the ones that the cable goes around. It has two that are 2" dia and one that is 1/4"dia. The manual that I downloaded [thanks to Joe] doesnt show any rollers that I can spot. It mentions an adaptor for fluting full length. That part is missing. I should try and contact the manufacturer and see if that part might be still availabe. I have my doubts about that tho.
    Thanks again.....Jim

Very sorry I made a mistake
I worked for Sears as a repairman for many years & I still made an error on my post.

    There are only 3 wheels (rollers)not 4.
    I was going by memory
The only ones I ever seen have-------------two 2-1/8" rollers & one 1-1/16" roller.

Are you sure the small wheel is----1/4" ??

The book says 1"-29LD130 & 2"-29LD129 so they are measuring from the inside diam. of the pulley where the wire is.

    I have 2 & both are--Router crafter--46" long---# 750.25250

Luther, I think the typing gremlin got to me. The 1/4th should have been about 1 1/4th. We were talking about the same thing just different names,
    Thanks again.....Jim
