RE: Forum Features
OK, folks, I agree. WC with message editing and multiple photos would be wonderful. I don't much care about spell checking.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-17-05 AT 09:00AM (CDT)
Thanks Carol!
I appreciate you taking the time to spell out the specifics that you like about both forums. Since we're building this from the ground up we can specify the features we really like. Obviously there is some consideration to the cost, but so far everything I've ready sounds pretty doable.
The people working on this project have read this thread and are also taking a look at WoodCentral's forum.
I want to thank everyone in this thread for your suggestions. It makes it so much easier to specify what we want!

RE: Forum Features
Johanna,
Thanks, too, for all your suggestions!
I agree about the email notification. It is pretty small and I have missed seeing it for a couple of days at times.
One thing I forgot to mention is that the old threads will be converted so we won't lose them when we switch over.

RE: Forum Features
Gone for a few days and things happen. The only function that I wish this forum had was spell check. Being an awful speller this would make things simpler.
Thanks for asking

RE: Forum Features
Well Kay,
Everything has been covered. I just want to say, I miss Bob. (LOL) Whatever software you choose, be sure that it has as good a method for keeping unwanted posters out.

RE: Forum Features
Hi John,
I am very pleased with the protected forum and at least so far is doing the job of keeping the forum a safe and secure place, so, yes, it is a top priority on the list of features.
Thanks again to all who have contributed suggestions and don't hesitate to keep them coming.

RE: Forum Features - more
Hi Kay,
If you are still accepting suggestions, go look at this site:
http://www.woodcarvingillustrated.com/forum
I was especially intrigued with something called vB code. You'll find it under FAQ's and the first question under Reading and Posting Messages.
This site software is used for a lot of other sites I sometimes visit and seems reasonably user friendly. It has some of the same features as WoodCentral, plus a few extras. It also has the registration feature that seems necessary for civilized forum use these days. I did not explore it for image friendliness or spell checking.
Just trying to help.
