    Congratulations to Barb S!

Earlier this month I received a press release on the six winners of the 2006 Vaughan "Golden Hammer" Writing Awards sponsored in part by the National Association of Home and Workshop Writers. There were two categories: Feature Articles and Books.

I'm very pleased to let our fellow posters know that Barb Siddiqui, who has written the Starting Points columns for us, was awarded Second place for her article "Storage Drill Team" that was published in Woodcraft Magazine in January 2005.

    Again, Congratulations Barb! Great Job!!

    Well Thank You, all!

Press releases are nice. Thanks for the Kudos. It was quite fun, as I attended the convention breakfast to accept a monetary award as second place winner, being beaten by Sandor Nagyszalanczy in the articles category for his drill press article in Woodworker's Journal. Sandor is a character. In his acceptance speech he said he had six first-place plaques he'd won over the years, hanging around his shop, and I quipped he really ought to Use one of those gold plated hammers sometime. The second place winner didn't receive a plaque, but a nice framed certificate with a
Picture of a gold hammer. So Sandor walked behind me after my acceptance speech singing, "If I Had A Ham-m-m-m-er...I'd hammer in the morning..."
I'm very honored by the recognition. Thank you for all your encouragement!

That's great Barbara. You work hard at your craft and it does pay. I always like monetary rewards but it sure helps the ego to have such recognition also.
