murphy bed
Hi
I am posting on a forum for the first time, because I need help.
I am not a woodworker, just play around fixing things around the house.
I would like to order the "create a bed system" to make a murphy bed,
but would like to know how hard it would be for me to do without any
precise woodworking knowledge. Maybe customer service at Rockler
might be able to help me, not sure, but thought I would try here first.
Wish I could see the plan before I spend the $259
Thanks for any feedback
Elaine

Have you checked your local area to see if there are any woodworking groups or clubs. If so you may be able to find someone who is willing to assist you, which would also be a good learning experience for you.
You could also check out local night schools for classes etc. or you may be able to find a shop student who may be able to help you.
Good luck and keep posting.
Let us know how it turns out.

I agree with John that you probably need some help and training. A murphy bed is a pretty big project for a beginner.
Some community colleges have excellent woodworking programs. Check them out as well as clubs.

Thanks for the advice, I kinda thought it would be more than I can handle on my own. I need a carpenter to do it for me, so will have to do some searching for the right person. I will post a photo if I ever get it completed.
Thanks

I have found some information online about creating your own murphy bed. I have a murphy bed, although I didn't make it myself, and I just love it. Here are the websites I found - http://www.wallbed.com/ and http://planetgreen.discovery.c...r-own-murphy-bed.html
Good Luck...Linda...

Please check out woodworking.com's home page. Down on the left side they are offering a free plan for a fold down bed. It may not be exactly like the plan you are looking at for $2??. buy you might find it interesting.
