RE: What to look for in a drill press
Hi Allison,
I have a large Jet drill press and a small Harbor Freight bench top drill press. Both work fine, and the only draw back with the bench top model is the limited size of the work you can get under the quill.
I wouldn't go looking for used equipment, I have found out the hard way that if you don't know the right questions to ask then it makes it easy for someone to sell you a worthless machine without lieing to you. I would think for wind instruments you will need a floor model and that I would buy new. Save up the money and you won't be sorry.

RE: What to look for in a drill press
Everyone has contributed very helpful information that I am using in making my decision, and for that I am very grateful. You're all wonderful sources of information! Whatever make/model I choose, I feel much better armed with info than I was previously. Thank you again. :-) I look forward to getting the drill and setting it up in my new, teeny-weeny workshop!
