Treehouse is excited to announce our new woodworking classes starting this May. In the Treehouse woodworking program, students have the opportunity to develop a foundation in woodworking skills by learning to use hand tools and power tools. You will create your own woodcraft and we can promise you will receive plenty of one-on-one instructions. Do not hesitate if you have little or no experience making things!

Woodworking classes for Spring, 2009

*Wood Tiles
-During this course students will become fully acclimated with processes particular to the use of hand tools such as chisels, hand saws, power tools, and some shop machinery such as the band saw and drill press. You will test and explore these tools and processes through the manipulation of a series of wooden tiles.

*Cutting Board
-This course is one I would suggest members take on after completion of the tile class. During this course students will be come familiar with more shop machinery such as the chop saw, joiner, planer and table saw. We will explore a variety of wood species and glue laminating processes in the name of producing a cutting board of your own composition and design.

*Serving Tray
-This course is one I would suggest members take on after completion of the cutting board class. Students will institute the design and construction of a wooden serving tray made of mahogany. We will be introducing students to basic drafting methods required to estimate how much materials they will need as well detailing specific joinery techniques needed to complete their project.
