Hi,

I am a beginner woodworker. I just recently bought a hand made platform bed (queen sized) for my daughter. It is very sturdy, but the wood and finish is not of great quality. I thought that I might be able to improve the appearance by adding a veneer layer, with some nice edge moulding to add the finishing touches. HOWEVER, I don't have any real experience, nor tools.
I only paid $120 for the bed, but would like to keep the cost of the additional work under $200 or so.

Do you think this is possible? I attached a pic to show that is is a very simple, uncomplicated bed design.

Hi Treegirl, the photo's are so dark I'm having problems seeing them.

What is the bed made out of?

Is it particle board or plywood with a veneer, or is it solid wood?

If it's solid wood, the best approach would be strip/sand it, and re-finish it.

regards, Rod.
