I made this jig for sharpening wood lathe tools - especially gouges. After screwing one end of a curtain rod to my bench, I fastened the other end with a copper strap modified with a thumb screw and nut, to adjust it in and out. You can buy copper strap in plumbing supply stores and modify it as shown in the sketch (detail). To use, set the gouge in the end of the curtain rod and find the proper angle between the tip of the tool and the grinding wheel.
